Case Study 1930s House Renovation Surrey

The owners had outgrown their modernist style detached house but it had been in the family for 20 years and they had great attachment to it. The house had been ultra modern at the time and featured in the Ideal Home exhibition but now needed a complete makeover.
They wanted to create a home in tune with 21st century with additional space, light and open plan living areas.
It was a huge project adding a third floor and extending at the side and rear. The family moved into rented accommodation during the construction works as the house was completely gutted.
Two runs of sliding/folding doors open up to a large terrace connecting the garden to the house. A striking new staircase topped by a domed rooflight provides a strong vertical connection through the house.

The owners conclude -
"We especially love the master bedroom – its nice and big and has wonderful views over the treetops. We're so lucky to wake up every morning in such a lovely room!"
